1st of January 2018, New Years Day.

Today marks my last day in the UK for the year. It has been a long roller coaster ride and each year, we always learn something new about others, things and most importantly, ourselves.

This year I have discovered my love for chinese leaf (lolol Ikr), learn't more on people's behaviours, a new course which I enjoyed, immensely. New friends which I've made along the way and old friends who has been there with me on my journey. It never ceases to amaze me how wide the world is, yet how small it could be.

I have managed to accomplish so many things this year and needless to say, I am proud of myself for doing so. However, I must ofcourse remind myself that there is always room for improvement and I shall use 2018 to complete the things which I have not completed in 2017. After all, it's just a normal day once more with a different number to the year.

Here are a few highlights to my 2017;

  1. Completed my dissertation thesis work which focuses on Dating Abuse amongst Malaysian Young Adults!
  2. Visited Paris and went Glamping with my close friends.
  3. Attended the COLDPLAY concert in Cardiff!!!
  4. Got a part time job as a Barista in a Vegan Cafe [The Moos Cafe]
  5. Stayed in a house filled with crazy people and loved them as much.
  6. Stayed in the UK during the Summer and enjoyed it!!
  7. Became a Girlguide volunteer leader and made new friends along the way.
  8. Joined more volunteer organisations and the DeafBlind UK organisation.
  9. Explored more of UK!
  10. Executed design works for MSSCF.
  11. Completed the script for Festival of Diversity XV for MSSCF before I left.

These are pretty much the highlights of my 2017.

With this, I would like to end my 2017 chapter and flip to a blank page to start noting down my 2018 journey which I have no doubts would be filled with new adventures and challenges.

Here's a picture from the Coldplay concert I attended and it describes how I feel at this very moment.

Brecon Beacons, Pen Y Fan 2017

Back in January, my housemates and I decided to hike the Brecon Beacons national park which includes South Wales' highest mountain - Pen Y Fan. (Yes, we're crazy for hiking during the winter but it wasn't all that bad to be honest). I am not much of a hiker, the last time I 'hiked' was at TTDI's Kiara Park which isn't even a mountain LOLOLOL.

We woke up around 6am (I only had four hours of sleep because I drank coffee the night before and idek why the hell I did that) and we departed at 7 in the morning. We headed for the bus stop situated at Corbett Road and mind you, it was absolutely freezing at that sort of hour. The ride was approximately 45 minutes and I used up the time on the bus to catch up with my sleep.

It was incredibly foggy when we arrived at the place. So, we didn't get to see much of the scenery but regardless it was absolutely beautiful and it gave the mysterious zombie apocalypse vibe a little. I brought extra socks, water. My housemates and I (including Danial aka 8th housemate of 14 because he's there so often) made egg sandwiches the night before.

Told you it was foggy.

The higher you hike (it is extremely hilly because duh it's a mountain) the more stuffy it gets and hence why I took my winter jacket off. It was obviously cold but the adrenaline kept me warm.

The approximate time of hiking up and down would take 4 hours and you will have to check the bus timings. We made a mistake of spending too much time hiking down and playing with the snow that we missed the bus and had to wait for a whole two hours in the bloody cold with soaking wet feet for the next bus to arrive. HAHAH but it was all good because we kept each other company and laughing non stop, which I appreciate alot because if I was alone I would probably had cried non stop. HAHAHAH.

Trying to get the movie poster going on... We failed, obviously.

The funny thing was that we thought we've reached the peak but we didn't.

and... we're finally at the peak!

Because we house 14 people are really extra.

I think this picture really describes our friendship.

My favourite picture.

Really proud of myself for being able to get up at 6am after a two hour sleep because of the stupid caffeine which decided to kick in at the last minute, wtf. Hiked up and down with my fellow friends and nearly froze to death whilst waiting for the damn bus to arrive. Went straight to wokker-shaker in our drenched outfits when we reached Cardiff and had Nasi Goreng.

So yeah, Pen Y Fan at Brecon Beacons? Checked!!

Spain Winter 2016 (Valencia Day 3 - 5)

Final post for my 2016 trip! Then I'll update on my happenings in 2017 hehe. Finally getting on the right track innit?

Day 3 -

Arrived in Valencia after a 2 hour train ride from Barcelona. Speaking of which, I loved the train so much?! They gave free earphones to watch a movie they provided on the train and also there was plenty of leg space. **Ding ding, Spain earns 10 brownie points!

Literally just walked around Valencia for abit since we arrived in the evening and settled down in our airbnb (which was absolutely amazing btw) *Please contact me for the airbnb details if you want them! It was relatively cheap and right smack in the middle of city centre where all the shopping was.

Had dinner around the streets and finally tried paella because that's what Valencia was famous for! Although... I'd stay away from it since it's super salty (it's just my preference overall I guess).

Day 4 -

To be honest, for a season that's supposed to be cold. Valencia was absolutely steaming and hot. Hence not having to wear such thick winter outfits.

Valencia was more of a chilled holiday rather than a rushy one, there weren't many tourists (which I really loved) or maybe it's cause it's winter so there wasn't anybody on the beach HAHA.

Because I'm Asian - hence the bubble tea.

You'd probably go like "how is that even winter?" Trust me, it was winter but the temperature begged to differ. So I didn't really know what was going on either.

We spent majority of our time at the Valencia market and the Beach. Then we headed off to what we girls do best - Shopping. Hehe.

Day 5 -

Our final day in Valencia and Spain (before we headed off back to Barcelona airport!) We headed off to Oceanographic and decided to spend 22 Euros on the entrance ticket (LOL, okay we really didn't think that we'd enter days before but we changed our minds and entered anyway. All because there was a Dolphin show.)

However, no regrets! I thought it was absolutely fantastic and mind blowing with the scenic view. ALTHOUGH IT WAS SCORCHING HOT OK.

AND! This place finally has what I've always wanted aka Chilli Flakes. Bloody hell, the only thing that I disliked about Spain was the lack of chilli flakes even when I've asked for it in Spanish. (Yea yea, I know this isn't Italy). I asked for like 2 - 3 cups of chilli flakes from the waitress and poured it all over my pasta. What's shown in the picture does not even define what I've poured upon my pasta. If you know me well, I am a super big fan of chilli.

Before heading home, we were at the train station and there was no toilet?!?! All toilets has to be paid (similar to London) and my friends and I did not want to pay 80p for a damn toilet (ok lolol we're cheapos). But anyway, we entered a cafe which apparently needed a code to enter the toilet, wtf ok? And I didn't really want to buy anything and it was another 2 more hours til our departure. A kind samaritan (who didn't even have to help us in any sort of way) offered us his receipt and N and I managed to enter the toilet T.T. Wherever you are, kind sir - muchas gracias.

So we ended our 2016 trip with a bang and although we were extremely exhausted by the end of trip cause of the lack of sleep but I am grateful that I was able to visit one of my dream countries with these funny lot. Thank you so much for going on that trip with me and dealing with my shenanigans (vice versa) lolol.

Here's a vlog video of my trip itself, hopefully it will show you much more of our adventures compared to my blog post.

Spain Winter 2016 (Barcelona Day 0 - 2)

Barcelona, Spain.

Day 0 - Our flight was delayed for two hours (thanks, easyjet). So we spent our time at the Bristol airport, walking around and reading the books that we've brought.

and we've finally arrived in Spain.

If you were to go to Spain, please make sure that you take the right bus from the airport to wherever you're going. Transportation in Spain is relatively easy and I suggest that you get the T-10 ticket for the metro underground train (similar to the tube service in London).

We got to our airbnb approximately at 11pm and once we have settled down, it was time to... CELEBRATE NASHA'S 22ND BIRTHDAY!! 19th December 2016. And yes, I know, I am super lame for blogging about it this late.

and also, we all got her that pink cap with the aristocat icon that she's wearing in the picture (just because the three of us had pink caps with different icons sewn onto it, mine's a doughnut).

Not to mention that we all went out to get ourselves McDonalds for supper, because we can. Plus, it was relatively near anyway?! Like 5 mins walk, so.. WHY NOT!

Day 1 -

We went over to Sagrada Familia first thing in the morning since we've gotten tickets for it and there's a certain timing that we'd have to follow if we wanted to get to the top of the building.

Since Sagrada is still under construction, we only got to see certain parts of it but I really loved the architecture of it.'

We spent an equal amount of Sagrada Familia before heading straight to Park Guell!

It started to rain real heavily whilst we were at Park Guell but all is well, it's still a magnificent place to visit. I'd like to call it the Gingerbread place

As a warning; I'd really suggest that the lot of you book your tickets online before you head over to these places to avoid long queues and it really saves up alot of time.

Day 2 -

It was Gothic Quarter and Las Ramblas day! They're all within walking distance from the airbnb we were staying at but we did take the metro since it was relatively faster.

[Please do get the T-10 ticket if you ever want to take the metro, it saves so much in terms of expenses and time] Spain's metro is relatively easy to read and to understand.

Apologies for the over-exposure. Was rushing to take the pic before the owner came to shoo me away HAHA.

and ofcourse the beloved llao llao which Britney craved so much.

BEST.SEAFOOD.EVER.

I'm not even kidding please! Unfortunately I've forgotten the place's name but it was so worth it. If I remember, I'd edit this post once more ;P

Oh, and before I update the next post. Here's a video of my travel vlog in Barcelona.
